Fair Trade Report 2017
St Andrew's remains a fair trade church, using fair trade tea & coffee and the congregation continues to buy from the monthly stall that is intended to give more exposure to some of the less widely available fair trade products.
The turnover of the stall, mainly in goods from Traidcraft, during the most recent year (to January at the time of this report) was about £822. That turnover includes specal events as well as the monthly Sunday stalls in the church hall. Over £100 was cards and other special stock for Easter or Christmas and the remainder standard purchases month by month. As ever, this will have made a useful contribution to the relief of poverty in several countries. Thank you to all regular and occasional customers and for help received when I have had to be away on stall days. Suggestions for what else might be stocked or got from the Traidcraft catalogue, that lists much more than the restricted range normally on the stall, are welcome.
These arrangements have now continued for almost five years and a small percentage rebate each completed year has gradually accumulated so that the whole process is now self funding.
I am always happy to talk to anyone who wants to know more about how the Fairtrade Foundation, Traidcraft and so on work and if anyone wants to provide a stall in some other setting, perhaps a church meeting or something similar, I am confident that easy to manage arrangements can be made.
